Henry David Thoreau once wrote that “[i]n wildness is the preservation of the world.” He couldn’t be more correct. National Wildlife Day was created as an opportunity for everyone to step back and think about all that surrounds us. It’s a day that inspires conservation and preservation efforts that work to improve the natural world, and save what we have left of it. Much of what we love about wildlife comes from the hard work and effort of conservation groups, and without them, some wildlife and natural habitats would have been lost forever. The National Wilderness Preservation System is one of these conservation organizations, and it does so much each year to ensure the survival of the wilderness within our world. It’s important to be aware that the wild is shrinking, and to save it, we need to spread awareness about increasing conservation efforts, as well as making efforts as individuals to help the conservation effort. Happy National Wildlife Day!
