As a reminder, The University of Texas at Austin currently automatically admits eligible Texas students in the top 6% of their high school graduating class beginning in the summer and fall of 2022. Texas A&M University automatically accepts eligible Texas students in the top 10% of their high school graduating class on or before the application deadline. These automatic admission rules come from House Bill 588, a bill enacted to help promote diversity within Texas Universities. The bill specifically states “Each general academic teaching institution shall admit an applicant for admission to the institution as an undergraduate student if the student is a qualified high school student from a public high school in this state who graduated with a grade point average in the top 10 percent of the student’s high school graduating class.”
