Third Place Sweepstakes at Gregory Portland Speech & Debate Tournament

On October 27, 2018, the W.B. Ray High School Speech and Debate Team competed at Gregory-Portland High School, resulting in two state qualifications! Anahita Farishta qualified for state competition in Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking, while Arish Bawani and Richard Waterhouse qualified for state competition in Cross Examination Debate. The team also won third place sweepstakes. The finals results are as follows:
- Anahita Farishta: Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking, 1st place
- Ian Mintz: Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking, 2nd place
- Evan Hsiang: Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking, 3rd place; Informative Speaking, 5th place; Original Oratory, 6th place
- Carlos Carroll: Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking, 1st place; Congressional Debate, 1st place
- Aamil Farishta: Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking, 4th place
- Sunnie Harkness: Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking, 6th place
- Zoe Robinson: Dramatic Interpretation, 6th place
- Natalie Palacios: Dramatic Interpretation, 8th place
- Kevin Craig and Aamil Farishta: Public Forum Debate, 1st place
- Seja Haque and Sunnie Harkness: Public Forum Debate, 2nd place
