On Saturday, October 20, 2018, the W.B. Ray Fighting Texan Marching Band put on their show, “Imagination” at the UIL Regional Marching Competition. Many schools competed, some from as far away asVictoria, to earn a coveted top place Division 1 Award. Ray’s band began practicing their show before school even started, back in August during Marching Band Camp at school. For months, the band could be seen at 7:00 am pretty much daily, practicing their routine in the parking lot. For those of you who have not had a chance to see the show during a football halftime, it features music adapted from the Willie Wonka movie soundtrack paired with complicated choreography around the field. Both the musicians and the colorguard perform the show together. On Saturday, Ray was the very last band to perform, going onto the field at 9:00 PM. After months of hard work and dedication, Ray Band received the highest marks, straight one’s, for an overall Division 1 award. Congratulations to the Band!
