Boys Basketball– Throughout this month, the Boys Varsity basketball team have continued their phenomenal season with 20 wins and 10 losses currently. They are second overall in the district and are looking forward to finishing their season, after which they will be moving on to the playoffs to compete. You can show your Texan pride by showing up and cheering on the team at their upcoming games, which you can find by going to Schedules and Scores on the Texan Times website!
Girls Basketball– On the other hand, the Girls Varsity basketball team have had a trying season, yet have continued playing with that Texan determination that we all love. Unfortunately, these girls have only won 2 games this season with 18 losses, and they will be playing their last two games of the season this Tuesday, January 28th and this Friday, the 31st. Let’s show them some much needed love and encouragement by showing up to support at 6:15 at Ray and Moody High School!
Soccer– Both Girls and Boys Varsity soccer started their season this month. So far the girls have had a successful season with 5 wins, 3 losses and 2 ties, and are placed third in district. The Boys Varsity teams have 3 wins, 6 losses and 1 tie, but there are still plenty of games left for them to gather some more wins. Both teams have games nearly every Tuesday and Friday after school, so please attend to support our Texans!
Golf– On January 17th and 18th, our Ray Texan golf teams competed at Lozano Golf Course in a tournament hosted by Veterans Memorial High School. Both the boys and girls teams played well, with Ray boys placing third overall and the girls placing second. Senior Anisha Anandula also placed third individually in the girls.
Cheer– The most spirited Texans of them all, our cheerleaders, also had an important competition this month. The team journeyed up to Fort Worth to compete in the UIL Spirit State Championship on January 16th- 18th. The competition consists of teams from all over Texas who compete with different routines in an attempt to claim the championship. Our cheerleaders
gave it their all, but unfortunately, due to a sound malfunction, did not place. However, if the social media posts and stories are anything to go by, they had lots of fun representing Ray.
Our Texan sports teams have done an amazing job, and let’s show our support for them by attending these competitions whenever possible. Go Texans!
