This Wednesday, November 6th, the W B Ray UIL Congressional Debate team competed at Del Mar college for the three available state spots and two available alternate spots. Juniors Saara Bindingnavele, Sharmada Palakurthi, Daniel Lee, and Caelan Webster as well as senior Kylie Thorpe have taken all available state and alternate spots, meaning WB Ray is representing all of the Corpus Christi 5A district in the state level competition in Austin, Texas. Congressional debate features students participating in mock sessions as congressional representatives and advocating for the passing or failing of proposed legislation. Congressional debate is a key way to learn about civic, national, and foreign policy, as well as communication, public speaking skills and the political processes integral to American democracy. The official ranking of the winners is as follows:
