National Pick Strawberries Day

Today, May 20, is National Pick Strawberries Day! Strawberries can be found ripe and delicious from late February through early July. More than half the children in the U.S. go to pick strawberries from special farming and gardening areas around this time. Strawberry picking is a wonderful way to spend time with both nature and your family (and can be done while social distancing 🎉). Strawberries also have amazing nutritional value and are among the top 20 fruits in antioxidant capacity. They have vitamins, fiber, manganese, and potassium and are a sodium-free, fat-free, cholesterol-free, low-calorie food. Just like its cousin, the rose, strawberries can be used in many things. They can be used in pie, cake, dipped in chocolate, or just eaten by themselves!

Happy National Pick Strawberries Day!
