Texans Come Crashing Down

After a fantastic pre-district performance by the Texans, Friday’s 56-9 loss against the GP Wildcats was a hard way to start district play.

Coming off a three-game win streak, the Texans came into this game thinking it would be easier than it was. “They were a good team, but we went into the game not with the right mindset to play,” receiver Urijah Massey said.

The Texans started the game strong, drawing first blood with a field goal early in the first quarter. Offensively, the rest of the game was a blood bath with quarterback Tripp Thompson being sacked 4 times and only throwing one touchdown in the third quarter to tight end Ismael Nunez.

Defensively, the Texans couldn’t get anything going against GP’s strong run game. Tempers flared, and the Texan defense appeared to be out of control, leading to the ejection of defensive back Jayden Zaragoza in the second quarter. This ejection will be contested, hopefully resulting in Zaragoza being able to play this upcoming Friday.

While the Texans did not perform as well during pre-district, there’s still an opportunity to rebound before going into bye week — a win against the 0-6 King Mustangs on Friday.
