From October 12 to October 13, 2018, the W.B. Ray High School Speech and Debate Team competed at the Ronald Reagan High Dutch Invitational in San Antonio, resulting in two members earning state qualifications! Anahita Farishta qualified for state competition in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, while Genevieve Cox qualified for state competition in Congressional Debate. The finals results are as follows:

Genevieve Cox: Congressional Debate, 1st place

Anahita Farishta: Lincoln-Douglas Debate, 3rd place; Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking, 2nd place
