On October 13, 2018, the W.B. Ray High School Speech and Debate Team competed at the PSJA Southwest High School tournament. The finals results are as follows:

Carlos Carroll: Congressional Debate, 2nd place

Evan Hsiang: Informative, 1st place; Original Oratory, 2nd place

Zoe Robinson: Dramatic Interpretation, 3rd place

This TFA tournament also resulted in three members picking up NIETOC bids! Daya Butler and Zoe Robinson both earned one bid for the National Individual Event Tournament of Champions in Dramatic Interpretation. Natalie Palacios also qualified to compete at NIETOC after picking up her second bid in Dramatic Interpretation.
